Giving Direction

Goals:

·         To be able to understand and explain the location of an object or building.

·         To be able to ask for information about location

·         To be able to understand and name common places of business.

a.       Asking for direction, useful expressions

·         Excuse me. Where is the…?

b.      Direction (north, south, east, west)

·         North (Utara), North East (Timur laut), North West (Barat laut)

·         South (Selatan), South East (Tenggara), South West (Barat Daya)

·         East (Timur)

·         West (Barat)

e.g. - There is a police station on High Street, west of First Avenue.

       - The park is on the northwest corner of High Street and First Avenue.

c.       Location, preposition of location 

·         (in, on, across, behind, inside, outside, around, opposite, next to, near, between, on top of, under, around the corner from, in the middle of )

e.g. – The Subway entrance is around the corner from the bookstore.

d.      Question about location

·         Is the bank far from the hotel?

·         Could you show me where the cinema is?

·         Where can I buy some stamps?
